Burning Calories, Changing Lives: Orange Shoe Waunakee Launches Fundraiser Following Client’s Cancer Battle
Leading Personalized Training Concept Burns Calories to Support a Client’s Journey to Motherhood After Cancer
WAUNAKEE, Wisc. – Orange Shoe Personal Fitness (Orange Shoe), known for its highly personalized approach to training and wellness, is proud to announce the launch of its “Calories for a Cause” campaign at its Waunakee location. This initiative will raise funds for a beloved client who is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.
In solidarity with the cause, the Waunakee studio has launched a GoFundMe page, allowing clients, friends, and the community to contribute directly. Donations will go toward helping April Premo, a client of the Waunakee studio, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 invasive lobular carcinoma, a type of locally advanced breast cancer. Funds will support her surrogacy journey, as her current hormone therapy, which includes medical menopause, makes carrying a baby extremely risky.
From March 16 to March 22, funds raised at the Orange Shoe Waunakee studio will assist the client in covering surrogacy costs, as her fertility has been affected by cancer treatments. For every $10 donated, Orange Shoe trainers will burn one calorie on a rower or bike, turning sweat into support.
“I feel truly grateful and appreciative that Sean, along with the staff at the Waunakee studio, is willing to organize this fundraiser for me,” said April Premo, a client at Orange Shoe Personal Fitness. “Orange Shoe has had such a profound impact on my life over the past year. As a 28-year-old who was diagnosed with breast cancer just a few months ago, I’ve been through so much—multiple surgeries, fertility treatments, chemotherapy, and soon, radiation. The community at Orange Shoe has been there for me through it all, providing support and a sense of family that’s helped me stay strong. I also want to raise awareness about the other collateral effects of cancer, especially for younger women like me who still have dreams of becoming parents. It’s so important to know you have a family like Orange Shoe on your side, willing to support you in every way.”
Throughout March, the Orange Shoe Waunakee studio will spotlight personal stories from both clients and trainers, highlighting how cancer has impacted their lives and the emotional and physical challenges they’ve faced. These stories will also showcase how Orange Shoe Fitness has been a source of support during their difficult times, whether through fitness, community, or personal encouragement. The campaign will culminate on March 28, when trainers at the Waunakee location will burn the “calories” raised through donations in a show of solidarity.
"At Orange Shoe Fitness, we pride ourselves on being a supportive community, and this initiative is a true reflection of that,” said Sean Geffert, Owner of the Orange Shoe Personal Fitness Waunakee Studio, “More than just helping our client, this is an opportunity to raise awareness of the fact that even if treatments go well and there is no relapse, breast cancer leaves lasting effects on people’s lives. It's not just about fighting cancer, it's about rebuilding, healing, and supporting each other long after the treatment ends. We're honored to come together as a team and make a real difference for one of our own in need."
